Blend rebrands around growth engineering and names new global CEO

Written by Dan Stillgoe | Sep 2, 2026, 1:04:06 PM

Blend has confirmed a new name for what it does, and a change of leadership for who runs it. From now on, Blend is a growth engineering partner rather than an agency, not a new direction, but a more honest description of the work it has always done.

New leadership at the top

Alongside the new name, Blend is changing who leads the business day to day. Josh Bouk becomes global Chief Executive Officer, taking responsibility for the business across all regions. Sean Sweet, who co-founded Blend 16 years ago, moves to Chairman, remaining active and involved, with more time to focus on the company's next stage. Phil Vallender, also a co-founder, continues to lead the science behind how Blend delivers for clients.

"The timing of this brand evolution with Josh's arrival is perfect. He's spent his career solving the exact revenue-growth challenges our clients face, and that deep expertise is going to be transformational for how we work with them. My move to Chairman reflects that confidence. I'm stepping back from day-to-day operations to focus on the bigger picture, which is where I believe my skills will have the most impact, especially as we, and our clients, navigate rapid technological change."

Sixteen years of proof

Over 16 years, Blend has worked with hundreds of B2B companies and won nine HubSpot Impact Awards, building its name on high-converting websites and demand generation programmes. But the growth problems clients bring it today rarely sit inside a single function.

They live in the seams between marketing, sales and customer success, in handoffs that lose information, systems that don't talk to each other, and data nobody trusts. Fixing that takes more than better campaigns: it takes diagnosing the whole revenue system, engineering the parts that are broken, and then operating it.

That's not a job Blend believes an agency is built to do, which is why it has stopped calling itself one.

"Growth engineering isn't new to us. It's the name for the discipline we've been building since day one, diagnosing where a revenue system is broken and engineering the fix, not just running the next campaign. What's different now is that we've called it out, built our brand around it, and we're finally showing people everything we've always done under one name. Josh has spent twenty years transforming revenue systems as an operator, inside PE-owned and public businesses. That's the expertise he now brings to how we build for clients, and it sits alongside everything we've always done, because the websites, the demand gen, the HubSpot work were never separate from growth engineering. They were always part of it."

What stays the same

This changes Blend's messaging, service descriptions and visual identity, not what sits underneath them. The company's HubSpot depth, conversion craft and client relationships built over 16 years remain the foundation of the business, now delivered through what Blend calls its Growth Engineering Framework: Assess, Engineer, Operate.

What this means for clients and partners

  • A renewed focus on client outcomes, shaping how Blend organises its teams, delivers services and structures its commercials.
  • A phased introduction to Blend's Growth Engineering Framework, designed to help clients plan for their own growth.
  • Regular communication on the strategies, tools and tactics driving growth for companies like theirs.

Blend's new brand and website are live now at www.blendb2b.com.

"I am humbled by the opportunity to lead this amazing team through our next phase of growth, and grateful to my friends and partners, Sean and Phil.  Having been a customer of Blend for five years previously in my career, I'm excited to bring that unique perspective to our team to help us create the global growth engineering firm that delivers consistent, measurable outcomes for our amazing customers."
